WHAT ARE RADISHES?

Let's discuss our main ingredient, radishes, before we get started with the recipe. These tiny, crunchy veggies are frequently disregarded and only found on veggie platters or as salad garnishes. Radishes, however, are so much more! They are nutrient-dense, related to broccoli and cabbage, and members of the cruciferous vegetable family.

When cooked, the peppery, slightly spicy flavor of radishes becomes milder and they have a crisp texture. They are abundant in vitamins C and B6, low in calories, and high in fiber. Radishes become a surprisingly potato-like vehicle for all of your favorite seasonings when they are sliced and air-fried.

DO RADISH FRIES TASTE LIKE FRENCH FRIES?

The main question is, would radish fries satisfy your demands for French fries? Yes, with a small twist. That's the quick answer. Although radish fries lack the identical starchiness of potatoes, they have a pleasantly mild flavor and a delightfully crisp air-fried texture. Radish fries have all the crispness of regular fries when they are properly seasoned and cooked till golden brown. They are ideal for dipping in ketchup, aioli, or your preferred sauce; imagine them as a lighter, somewhat earthier version of your favorite snack.

TIPS FOR THE BEST AIR FRYER FRIES

To achieve crispy, flavorful radish fries, keep these tips in mind:

  • Slice evenly: Aim for uniform thickness (about 1/4 inch) to ensure even cooking.
  • Pat dry: Remove excess moisture before seasoning to promote crispiness.
  • Don't overcrowd: Arrange fries in a single layer in your air fryer basket for optimal air circulation.
  • Shake the basket: Halfway through cooking, give the basket a shake to promote even browning.
  • Experiment with seasonings: Radishes are a great canvas for various flavors – try garlic powder, paprika, or even a sprinkle of parmesan!
